Since there are many fake Kunihiro pieces, I asked Mr. Tsuchida Noboru to authenticate this blade and he confirmed it to be authentic.

A note about the deep "hammer" marks (marks on both sides of the "國弘“ blacksmith's mark) left on the blade. In the days before machines, blacksmiths had to manually forge raw iron into thin sheets of iron of suitable width for making plane blades. By hammering the raw iron with the edge of the blacksmith's hammer, the blacksmith can make the raw iron stretch more quickly in the direction of the hammer mark.

Unlike the common blades nowadays, it is thinner. Please refer to my blog to learn more about this change.—— 「The evolution of the Japanese plane blade "Nikuoki" since the end of the Edo period」
