Additional Information: Used. It came from a retired carpenter in Kansai region of Japan. The plane is currently functioning normally and can be used.
"The Mon Tsunesaburo plane uses mid-Shōwa–era charcoal-reduced Blue No.1 thick steel. The steel is forged and stretched to remove impurities, resulting in a material that is easier to sharpen and more durable.
Furthermore, through vacuum annealing, the steel is perfectly spheroidized, giving it excellent sharpness and long-lasting edge retention. It is especially effective on softwoods such as hinoki (Japanese cypress) and sugi (Japanese cedar), offering superior bite, a light pull, and a distinctively smooth, lustrous finish on the wood surface." ー The above information is from publicly available online sources.
