This exhibition focuses attention on the plants that support traditional Japanese architecture and the craft techniques that were developed, particularly from the point of view of plant science and architecture. It also explores the wisdom and ingenuity behind how these resources have played a role in a sustainable, circular society. Most of the craft techniques featured are among those listed in 2020 by UNESCO under Intangible Cultural Heritage as “traditional skills, techniques and knowledge for the conservation and transmission of wooden architecture in Japan.” Here, the lives nurtured by nature are continually revived through the wisdom and ingenuity of human hands. We invite you to explore a world of craftsmanship shaped by care and thoughtfulness."

Weight: 525g

Size (length, width, thickness): 297mm, 210mm, 19mm

# of Pages: 130

Additional Information: This book is a great resource with lots of pictures and English translations.

※ Because the Takenaka Woodworking Tool Museum's book series cannot be sent overseas, I will charge a handling fee of 1,100 yen per book.
