This secondhand saw was purchased from a retired carpenter in the Kanto region, who bought it from a saw blacksmith in the Kanto area 30 years ago and has kept it stored ever since. According to him, the saw had already been on display in a shop window for over 10 years when he bought it, because this type of saw was rarely used at the time. Based on information available online, the blacksmith who crafted this saw is believed to be a saw-smith from Ibaraki Prefecture.

This large rip saw as a ”Bukkiri”(also known as "Bukkikagari").  It differs from a standard "Kagari" saw in its design: while a Kagari saw is typically converted from a blade originally intended for a straight handle, a Bukkiri is purpose-built from the start to be fitted with a "Shumoku-e" (a T-shaped cross-handle).
