Additional Information: This is a pre-owned item originally owned by a carpenter from the Kansai region. The blade features an exquisite, finely crafted 'Usu-zukuri (thinly made) type. Engraved inside a square frame on the front left of the blade is '玉鋼特製' (Specially Made with Tamahagane). The dai (wooden body) is in good condition, crafted from high-quality Japanese white oak; while there are some stains on the sole, the body remains straight, free of warping or twisting.
The chip ramp (kuzutame) on this dai is cut at a 90-degree angle, compared to the standard 65 degrees typically found here. From what I understand so far, this design is likely intended specifically for ultra-fine shaving rather than everyday heavy woodworking.
