They are used to cut a matching joint on theedges of paneled, wooden storm doors to keep out wind and rain.(These doorsare usually about 3 ft. wide by 6 ft. long, but not all storm doors have interlock.ing edges.) All of these planes have an adjustable fence on the sole. Some ofthem cut classical squarish profiles, others cut round profiles. Blades havinground profiles are easy to sharpen, so the blades of both male and female planesare made from one piece of steel, though the back has two hollows instead ofone.
