Found this pair of knives in a tool shop in Niigata, next to a Hasegawa Kozaburo knife. Based on my experience, this pair of knives is not made by Kozaburo. But judging from the craftsmanship of this pair of knives, it is not possible for a non-skilled blacksmith to make them.
The current owner who inherited the tool shop is no longer aware of further details, including its purpose. As far as I know, this kind of knife may be a tool for processing details in some narrow places where the hand cannot reach. This can only be achieved by extending the handle.
