This Kirdashi knife is one of Ishikoso Shuichi's early works. It exhibits fine precision in its craftsmanship and is forged using high-quality Kamaji. From the shape of the laminated steel, it is evident that he still maintained the signature style of his master, Iwazaki Shigeyoshi 's lineage. His more recent knives no longer feature this particular design.
The wooden box comes with the blacksmith's stamp, which bears his name, "Ishikoso Shuichi" (石社修一). The seal is carved in Seal Script (Zhuanshu). Looking at the layout, "Ishi" (石) is in the top right, "Koso"(社) in the bottom right, "Shu" (修) in the top left, and "Ichi" (一) in the bottom left.
