This Kiridashi is different from other common ones made by Shigefusa.
1: The lines on both sides of common blades are straight, but the lines on both sides of this blade are curved and in the same direction. This type is called “Ebikata(海老型)” in Japanese. Meaning shrimp type.
2: The shape of urasuki is egg-shaped. This style is more classical and is commonly seen on kiridashi made by Korehide.
3: The Ura plane is slightly higher than the handle plane. What attracts me most about this blade is how natural and smooth the connection between the two planes is. I took a few detailed side views to try to convey the time and amazing craftsmanship the blacksmith put into this.
