Additional Information: Judging from the condition of the ura, it has seen very little use and remains in excellent shape. The back of the blade is stamped with the date of manufacture, making it a great representative example of Metsugi's early work. The wood of the dai is also much better in quality compared to more recent ones from the same daiya (plane block maker). Please note that it does not come with a chipbreaker.
Also, the shiny areas on both sides of the bevel are from a practical tuning done by a carpenter—the corners of the blade were ground slightly lower to prevent harsh track marks from showing on the planed surface.
