Additional Information: This chisel is pre-owned and has only been used once or twice. Its original owner was a retired carpenter from the Tokyo area.
The tools he sold to me also include a full set of Oire-nomi (bench chisels) and three of the most commonly used Sotomaru-nomi (out-cannel gouges). On the underside of the wooden box lid that houses these 13 chisels, it bears the official stamp of "Inoue Hamono" along with the purchase date: May, Showa 62 (May 1987). Based on my experience, I believe these chisels was custom-ordered by the carpenter from the legendary blacksmith Osahiro (长弘) through the renowned tool shop Inoue Hamono (井上刃物).
