Masakari Japanese Hand Made Axe By Tsunbo
Brand name: Tsunbo
Smith name: Murayama ?
Steel: Carbon Steel
Jigane: Watetsu
Blade width: 132mm
Top Head Size: 39mm * 44mm
Weight: 984g
Manufacture Era: During World War II or earlier (Speculation based on available information)
Additional Information: Used, has been repaired. The soft iron part uses traditional Japanese iron (Watetsu). The fifth generation blacksmiths usually use modern soft iron. The Watetsu is soft than modern iron and easy to sharpen.
The brand lasted for more than 200 years and lasted for five generations. The blacksmith shop is located in the Takata area(current Joetsu City) of Niigata Prefecture. After the fifth generation blacksmith passed away in May 1984, the fire in the blacksmith shop was extinguished.
"The axe may have been made in the 4th generation, or it may have been earlier." Opinion from Mr. Tsuchida Noboru.
