An interesting old chisel. Judging from its shape, it is from the late 19th or early 20th century. The carpenter reworked it in a personalized way, with the ura extending to the neck. And its processing precision is very high. I re-sharpened it easily.
The jigane part uses modern soft iron. From the book of the second generation Hisasaku, I know that there is a kind of soft iron from Switzerland that entered the Japan in 1898. He recorded that this soft iron has a uniform texture, high density, easy to process, and has a beautiful finished surface.
