Additional Information: This is a rare, wide-blade oire-nomi (bench chisel) forged by the late master blacksmith Funahiro. It was acquired from a specialty tool shop in Chiba, originally part of the shop owner’s prized private collection of Funahiro chisels. It is in brand-new, unused condition.
The calligraphy on the wooden box lid reads:
• Right: “日光輪王寺献額篆刻指命御用達” (Appointed engraver commissioned for the dedication plaque of Nikko Rinnoji Temple)
• Center: “鉄の心を汲んで打つ” (Forging with deep empathy for the spirit of iron)
• Left: “舟弘作” (Made by Funahiro)
