Shiro Suita Japanese Natural Finishing Stone - 1404g
Size: 207mmx73mmx38mm
Weight: 1404g
Additional Information: This is one of three Japanese natural whetstones I discovered tucked away in the back of a display window at a professional tool shop in Tokyo. The shop owner mentioned that these stones were originally stocked in the 1980s, and he no longer recalls the specific mines they came from.
Based on my testing, this Shiro Suita (white Suita) is slightly harder than the other Suita from the same find. It offers the highest sharpening efficiency and is somewhat purer in consistency. It produces a stunning Kasumi (misty) finish with a strong contrast between the jigane (cladding) and hagane (core steel). It is an nice choice for sharpening both kitchen knives and woodworking tools.
