Additional Information: These two sotomaru-nomi are used tools sourced from a retired carpenter in the Nagoya area. I have resharpened them, finishing both the bevel and the hollow back side to #1000 grit. During the sharpening process, the steel performed exceptionally well, likely indicating Shirogami No. 1 (White Paper Steel #1).
Although the maker of these chisels is currently unverified, the exquisite craftsmanship has left a deep impression on me. The hand-filed marks left on the neck and the chamfered portions of the blade also clearly demonstrate the blacksmith's high level of skill.
