Additional Information: Used. I did a repair sharpening, bevel to 5000 grit, ura to 1000 grit. It come from a retired "Miyadaiku"( Japanese shrine and temple carpenters) in Tokyo.
I was very impressed with this chisel. Firstly, it is made with a high degree of precision, which can be seen in the photos. Secondly, It likely used a harder traditional Japanese iron, much harder than modern soft iron, which confused me when I first sharpened it. This also led me to sharpen the bevel to a grit higher than 5000, so that I could judge its "Jigane".
