Types of wooden handles:Japanese White Oak(Shirakashi)

Accessories:Original wooden box

Additional Information: Unused, the six chisels are in brand new condition, But the box has some stains.  I found this from a professional tool shop in Chiba.

There are two marks of chisels made by Funahiro on the market: one is "Funahiro/舟弘" and the other is "Genju Funahiro/元寿舟弘". The steel used in the chisels of these two marks is different.

"Funahiro/舟弘" mark chisel uses White steel No. 1.

"Genju Funahiro/元寿舟弘"  mark chisel uses White Steel #1(C 1.38% vacuum arc redissolved) . Some stores also say it is "Original New Japanese Steel". Compared to this vague description of steel, I prefer to believe Mr. Ishikoso's research report(現代鍛冶技法の保存調査報告 その2[舟弘]銘・船津祐司の鑿製作) published in the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum Research Bulletin No. 25 in 2014. Page 13 of the report records the steel used for the Funahiro chisels and planes.
