Additional Information: Used. In good condition with a little rust. I sharpened the bevel to 400 grit, and the ura to about 6000 grit.
Uncommon kiyotata mark. The Chinese character “嶋”in the circle comes from his surname “嶋村 SHIMAMURA”, from the nagaoka wholesaler in Sanjo Niigata Prefecture.
This chisel is an early work of Kiyotada. The blacksmith's later works became rougher in shape due to his age and poor eyesight.
