Additional Information: This is a rare 24 mm tataki-nomi bearing only the blacksmith's mark and lacking the Tokyo Chisel Guild mark. It is an early work by the second-generation Ichihiro. Although it has seen considerable use over a long period, the previous carpenter maintained an excellent sharpening technique. In its current condition, and with proper sharpening skills on your end, it still offers a long service life. The wooden handle was replaced by Mr. Tsuchida.
If you closely compare this piece with the other Ichihiro chisels listed on my website, you will notice that the way the blade's chamfer extends into the neck differs from both third-generation Ichihiro works and the 'traditional Tokyo-style' chisels made by the second-generation Ichihiro. When I consulted Mr. Tsuchida regarding this distinctive feature, he explained that this style was commonly seen in the work of Ishido Hidekazu, and he even showed me chisels featuring the exact same chamfering treatment.
