Additional Information:  This is a pre-owned Ichihiro tataki-nomi, acquired from a retired carpenter in the Kansai region. Despite previous use by its former owner, the chisel remains in fine condition with plenty of service life left. I have performed a restorative sharpening on it, lapping both the primary bevel and the hollow back (ura) up to a 1,000-grit finish.

Based on the tactile feedback during grinding and the crisp, linear burr formed along the apex—which felt hard yet resilient—the steel displays a uniform grain structure and solid toughness. It is well-suited for softwood and medium-density timber; however, if you plan to work dense hardwoods, you may want to increase the bevel angle slightly to protect against micro-chipping.

Please note that there is a crack in the wooden handle, but it does not affect its functionality at present.
