Additional Information: Unused, in good condition. A rather rare uchimaru (in-cannel gouge) from the Umihiro blacksmith. Its craftsmanship ranks among the finest in the Sanjo region—executed noticeably better than most comparable pieces I have seen from third-generation Kunikei. The black oxide finish, with its subtle bluish undertone, strongly evokes the work of Kiyotada. Could this aesthetic and metallurgical affinity be the reason Asakusa Mizuhiro outsourced some of their stamped 'Kiyotada' chisels to Umihiro?
