According to online documentation on Super White Paper steel (Super Shirogami), it is melted under a high-purity vacuum process to drastically minimize impurities, yielding a plane that hones with remarkable ease. During final stropping and honing (shiage-togi), the burr (wire edge) releases cleanly and effortlessly. This blade is exceptionally well-suited for ultra-thin shavings (usu-kezuri) as well as pristine finish planing.

Keizaburo is one of the few contemporary blacksmiths who can truly master Shirogami-grade steels. As unalloyed high-carbon steel, White Paper steel has an unforgivingly narrow forging and heat-treatment window; judging the steel's heat calls for extreme vigilance and labor-intensive care—a challenge he executes with seasoned precision.
