As shown in the last photo, unlike the typical Azebiki saws on the market with curved (convex) tooth lines, the teeth on the middle section of this blade are almost completely straight. As for why it is designed this way, I have quoted Mr. Tsuchida's tweet below (translated into English). Link to the original post: https://x.com/tsuchidahamono/status/1999989519064662092
“For the Azebiki saw, the teeth should be set right up to the very limit of the tip. Aside from the tip, the rest of the tooth line should not be convex (bellied), but kept straight like a standard saw. My father mentioned that he learned this from Tetsunosuke Miyano II. When convex-edged Azebiki saws are brought in for sharpening, usually only the apex of the curved blade is worn down. In other words, they only engage the wood at a localized point. The Azebiki saw made by Nakaya Hanbei and used by Sekino Seiun, which is housed in the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum, wasn't convex either.”
