Additional Information: This chisel shows only light use, but it was unfortunately neglected by its previous owner. Even after my restoration and sharpening, some pitting remains on the ura (the flat back). Removing these pits entirely would require grinding away a significant amount of the steel's thickness. Since there is currently a substantial length of usable steel, I’ve decided against thinning it down for now. My recommendation is to address those pits gradually as the tool naturally wears down to that section.
This piece is the work of a Kansai-region blacksmith. I am particularly impressed by the transition from the neck to the blade; it is a fine example of its kind from that region. The handle is crafted from high-quality Southeast Asian rosewood—I suspect it is Black Rosewood (Sonokeling).
