Smith name: Unknown
Steel: Carbon Steel
Jigane: Watetsu
Blade width: 232mm
Full length: 920mm
Manufacture Era: Before World War II (Appraised by Mr. Tsuchida Noboru )
Total Weight: 3757g
Accessories: -
Additional Information: Used, in good condition. It comes from a retired carpenter in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Mr. Tsuchida told me that this is a Masakri made of Japanese Watetsu before World War II, and this type of Masakri is very common in the Kanto region.
The wooden handle is also well-made. To sharpen it, the blade can be easily removed by simply removing the wooden wedge.
※ The straight dividing line on the bevel of the blade near the tip is not the lamination line between the watertsu and the steel. The carpenter had no intention of using it after he sharpened it. He taped the tip shut, and when I removed the tape, a clear dividing line was left.
