The Nishine Masatake blacksmith is from Ani Town, Akita Prefecture. It is said that this hunting knife was similar to the Deba kitchen knife before, which was large and heavy and inconvenient to use. The third generation of blacksmiths improved it and legend has it that he once used this hunting knife to fight off three bears. Unlike the common nata, this knife has both self-defense and practical functions.
