Additional Information: Lightly used. Rusty on the surface.  I sharpened the bevel to 400 grit, and the ura to about 6000 grit.

At that time, most Kuchigane were made by the blacksmiths themselves. ( The third picture))

A chisel from a retired carpenter in the Chiba area. Although this chisel does not have any marks with information about the blacksmith, the chisel is very well made. The “urasuki” part was made with the hand tool "sen", and the concave depth is more reasonable than that made with a grinder. Ideally, the depth of the “urasuki” concave should gradually increase from the top to the bottom of the blade. The last two pictures show the depth distribution of “Urasuki".

In addition, the two sides of the blade are concave to reduce the friction with the wood on both sides of the mortise when in use.
