Additional Information: This chisel was sourced from the descendant of a retired carpenter in the Kanto region. The urasuki appears to have been restored, and it’s clear that it was well-loved by its previous owner. I performed a basic sharpening on the bevel, and in the process, I discovered that the steel quality is truly exceptional. The chisel exhibits stylistic characteristics typical of the Meiji period.
