Additional Information: Unused, in brand new condition. It comes from the collection of a retired carpenter in the Kansai region of Japan.
The wooden bodies of these three planes, collected from carpenters in the Kansai region, are all made from high-quality Japanese red oak from the Kyushu area. However, the red oak used for this plane has a slightly lower density and a lighter color compared to the other two. Based on the knowledge I learned from experienced craftsmen who specialize in making Ming-style furniture, the red oak used for this plane likely grew on the sunny side of the mountain, where rainfall and sunlight are more abundant and plants grow faster.
