Mr. Kato Shinpei is a Japanese samurai swordsmith. The most common of his works is kiridashi, and he rarely makes woodworking tools.
This collector has many kiridashi knives made by Kato Shinpei, including one made with tamahagane. This sen is the only woodworking tool in his collection. As the collector was getting older, he finally decided to sell it to me after I purchased some of his other kiridashi collections.
