This chisel is an early work of Kiyotada. It is finely made and you can see more details by enlarging the picture.

The final photo shows two chisels made nearly half a century apart. The one on the left was crafted by an unknown Tokyo blacksmith before WWII (it is certain that he had a close connection to Kiyotada—possibly as a fellow apprentice). The identical treatment of the junction between the neck and the blade on both tools reveals how craftsmanship acts as a form of 'DNA' passed down through the lineage of blacksmiths.
