Due to the fact that the Shinkichi(信吉) mark was used by two blacksmiths— Takiguchi Shinkichi and Takiguchi Shonosuke (please refer to my blog - Kobonu, for details on their relationship)—the exact maker of this specific chisel cannot be definitively identified. However, it undoubtedly serves as an essential physical record of the Konobu lineage, the renowned family of Tokyo carving-chisel smiths.
