Additional Information: The chisel is unused. When I received it, there was some rust on one edge of the blade. I have restored it and performed a basic sharpening. The bevel was sharpened to 1,000 grit, and the ura (back) was sharpened to approximately 5,000 grit. The rust has now been removed, leaving only a few minor rust marks (as seen on the top left of the blade in the third picture and the top right in the fourth picture). These will easily come out with further sharpening and regular use (resharpening). Additionally, while sharpening it, I noticed the steel quality is excellent; when removing the burr, it came off in a continuous, silk-like thread.
This is a rare 90mm Tataki chisel. For a size comparison with a standard Tataki chisel, please refer to the last photo. The chisel shown for comparison is 54mm wide and was made by the same blacksmith.
The chisel features a custom extended wooden handle for easier use. To see the primary applications for this type of chisel, please refer to this video (starting at 8:36): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HMa5tofqps]
