Additional Information: This is a rare 2nd generation Ichihiro thin paring chisel (usu-nomi), sourced from a retired carpenter in the Tokyo area. It has only seen light use, remains in fine condition, and boasts exceptional craftsmanship throughout.

While the previous owner’s sharpening technique was rather average, I have thoroughly re-sharpened it, bringing both the bevel and the back (ura) to a clean 1,000-grit finish. During sharpening, the steel felt remarkably fine-grained and uniform, throwing a clean, distinct wire burr. If you compare it to the wire burr produced by the Kiyotada chisel, this one exhibits noticeably less natural curl—an indication that the steel on this Ichihiro is slightly harder, as shown in the final photo.
