“To the extent that the strength of the handle tip can be maintained, it is best to make the eye as small as possible. An eye with a vertical-to-horizontal ratio of about 3:1 is, based on experience, considered an effective design. This is only natural, as a larger eye allows for a greater margin of error during the forging process.”
