This blade comes from a retired Miyadaiku in the Tokyo area. I have sharpened it, taking the bevel up to about 1,000 grit, and the ura (back) to about 3,000 grit. It will require further sharpening on your end before it is ready for use. The block is made of high-quality Japanese White Oak, though there is some minor warping due to long-term storage.
This is a rare 'Teruhide/輝秀' stamped hand plane by Oguma Torasaburo , an early-period work. Oguma Torasaburo was a master blacksmith based in Yoita, Niigata, who operated his forge from the Taisho through the Showa eras. He was the eldest of four brothers—including Nisaku ( 仁作,second), Masao ( 政雄, third), and Toyokichi ( 登代吉,youngest)—all four of whom were renowned plane-smiths.
