Additional Information: It is brand new and unused, in overall good condition. Due to long-term storage in a warehouse, the wooden block (dai) has shrunk slightly and will need to be readjusted to fit the blade.
The plane blacksmith was from Wakino-machi, Niigata Prefecture. He inherited the family's plane-making business from his father, Sangoro(三五郎). He was guided by Iwasaki Kosuke , who scientifically researched bladed tools and promoted Japanese cutlery to the world. Kosuke highly praised his work, recognizing the exceptional quality of his carbon steel blades. His brand name, 'Sadatoki,' was bestowed upon him by Iwasaki Shigeyoshi, who foretold that he would become a master plane blacksmith in the future.
