Additional Information: Used, in good condition. This blade came from a retired carpenter in the Tokyo area. I have restored and sharpened it, taking the bevel up to about 5,000 grit (using an Uchigumori stone), and the ura (back) to about 1,000 grit. It will require further sharpening on your end before it is ready for use.

The blade is crafted with a very high level of precision and features a classic thin type.. 'Hidari Kunihisa' (左國久) is likely the blacksmith's own maker's mark, while 'Katsushiro' (勝四郎 is probably the wholesaler's mark.
