The text on the front is 「初夢日之出拝富士之山」,This sentence means "I dreamed of Mount Fuji on the first night of the new year." In Japanese culture, dreaming of Mount Fuji as the first dream of the new year is akin to winning the jackpot. This indicates that you will definitely have good luck this year.

The pattern above the Chinese characters on the front of the blade is Mt. Fuji.

The text on the back is 「直、幸三郎作」. According to the information I have seen, "直" comes from a Chinese character in the name of the place where the blacksmith lived.

This blacksmith is famous for his hammers. When he was young, he could make 140 all-steel hammers with great precision without power tools. What's also incredible is that he made the hammer without using any tools to measure its dimensions. He once imitated Chiyotsuru's kiridahsi. I have to say that among all the imitators, he is the best.

Below is a video of the blacksmith making hammers. It can be seen from the video that his production is smooth and efficient.
