Additional Information: This knife is unused and in good overall condition. It is believed to be a work by Mosaku dating back to the 1990s or earlier. Due to long-term storage, some rust had developed near the blade tip, which I have carefully sharpened. Both the bevel and the ura have been honed up to #1000 grit. Based on the steel's feedback on the stones during sharpening, I believe it is Shirogami #2, with quite good overall quality. In addition, the tip of this knife is forged using the semaki (背巻き) technique.
Korehisa (是久) is believed to have been one of the proprietary brands distributed by the wholesaler Morihei; plane blades bearing the Korehisa mark appear in Morihei’s product catalog dating back to the Showa 30s (circa 1955–1964).
Additionally, this knife comes housed in a meticulously crafted wooden box, whose craftsmanship far surpasses typical contemporary wooden storage boxes. Judging by its precision and fit, it was most likely crafted by a sashimono-shi (traditional master cabinetmaker).
