Additional Information: This antique axe has seen substantial historical use but retains an ample service life. The tool was sourced from a retired woodworker near Osaka, and its shape exhibits the classic Kansai style. I have given it a basic sharpening up to around 1,000 grit; the jigane (soft iron) is quite soft, and the steel provides excellent feedback, offering a great balance of toughness and rigidity that is perfect for rough splitting and chopping tasks. The blade itself is exceptionally well-crafted, and while there is some residual rust pitting, it does not affect its performance.
