Additional Information:  Second-hand item in good condition, sourced from a retired carpenter in the Takada area of Niigata Prefecture. I have sharpened it up to 5000 grit, and it is ready to use once fitted with a wooden handle. The jigane part is made of modern soft iron, making it very likely a work by the 5th generation master.

This brand spans five generations over more than 200 years. Its forge was located in the Takada area of Niigata Prefecture (now Joetsu City). In May 1984, the 5th generation master passed away, bringing an end to the forge's legacy.
