Additional Information: It is in brand-new, unused condition and has been well-preserved. This chisel comes from the private collection of a retired carpenter in the Kanto region. It is a Mukoumachi-nomi (mortise chisel) custom-ordered directly from the Tasai blacksmith. The lamination is executed to perfection, with the steel fully wrapping around both sides of the soft iron to enhance the strength of this extremely slender blade. The ura features a high-precision "Urasuki" (hollow ground) created using a "Sen" (hand-scraping tool).
