Additional Information: It originally belonged to a deceased Miyadaiku in Kyoto and was purchased directly from his descendants. Regrettably, the family was unable to provide the specific mine name for this stone. This Suita has a medium hardness and exceptionally strong cutting power. Based on my testing, the Su and lines on the current working surface cause no harsh feedback or noticeable negative effect on sharpening. The sharpening feel is smooth, and the slurry oxidizes quickly (turns yellow). It produces a beautiful Kasumi (mist/hazy) finish with striking contrast between the soft iron (Jigane) and core steel (Hagane). It is an extraordinarily practical natural whetstone.

It originally had a black protective lacquer coating around all four sides. To inspect the lateral of the stone, I removed the coating from both sides.
