Additional Information: This chisel has only seen light use and is in good condition. The original Miyadaiku applied a layer of anti-rust lacquer to the surface for long-term protection. I did a repair sharpening, bevel to 1000 grit.
This chisel is highly likely the work of Hidari Katsuhiro, the senior fellow apprentice of the first-generation Kiyotada. Both studied under the master Kiyoharu(清治). It is crafted with exceptional precision, exhibiting a slender, crisp profile with absolutely no excess bulk. As evidenced by the burr on the blade tip in the fourth image, the steel quality of this chisel is excellent. The steel features a uniform microstructure, striking a nice balance between hardness and toughness.
It comes from the descendants of a retired Miyadaiku from Kamakura. The chisels from this Miya-daiku currently listed on the website are as follows:
