Additional Information: This set of secondhand carving chisels exhibits the typical craftsmanship of the early 20th century. The handles are slender, and the chisel bodies have no extra bulk, presenting a lean profile. They were once owned by a Miyadaiku (shrine and temple carpenter) and were carefully used and preserved. They are in good condition and still have a long service life. The Miyadaiku applied a layer of anti-rust lacquer on the blades for long-term protection. I have done a restorative sharpening, the bevels to about 1000 grit.

Only one chisel in the set bears a maker's mark (Chisel No. 3, "宗意"). Judging from the precision of the making and the distinct profile of the blades, they were undoubtedly crafted by the blacksmith in the Tokyo region. Their precision can be compared to "Konobu" (小信).

It comes from the descendants of a retired Miyadaiku from Kamakura. The chisels from this Miya-daiku currently listed on the website are as follows:

1:Shinogi-Chu-Tataki-Nomi By Hidarimeijin - 24mm;

2: Yamairi-Tataki-Nomi By Hidari-Munehiro;
